Here you can see a unique mixture of Victorian elegance and urban living. This residential neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Most of the 100 structures in Haight Village Historic District boast ages of 100 to 150 years. 

 

Forest Plaza

There are loads of shopping, entertainment, and dining opportunities at the Forest Plaza Shopping Center, situated at 6125 East State Street, Rockford, IL 61108.

Camp Grant Museum

Camp Grant Museum is a museum that honors the memory of the men and women who lived, worked, and defended the USA during World War I and II. Camp Grant was a U.S. Army facility on the outskirts of Rockford. 

Today this museum is in the original building of Camp Grand located at 1004 Samuelson Road, Rockford, Illinois 61109. Visitors can find displays, postcards, pictures, and memorabilia of the camps’ daily activities and other local military histories. 

 

Sinnissippi Park

Sinnissippi Park offers a large natural space with plenty of family attractions, including a playground, picnic areas, and more. 

To visit the Sinnissippi Park, one can go to 1401 N 2nd St, Rockford, IL 61107, on the Rock River banks. The Sinnissippi Music Shell is also situated in this Park, a popular venue for live music and concerts, including the yearly Music in the Park Summer Concert Series. 

 

Ingersoll Memorial Golf Course

Rockford has several golf courses, including the Ingersoll Memorial Golf Course. This golf course opened in 1922 and is named in honor of Lt. Clayton Ingersoll, who lost his life in World War I in an air crash.  

The Ingersoll Memorial Golf Course is situated at 101 Daisyfield Rd, Rockford, IL 61102, and consists of narrow fairways and gently rolling terrain. Golfers can enjoy the wooded 18-hole course, which offers 6 107 challenging yards on a par 71 course.  

 

Beattie Park Mound Group Historic Site

For some more Rockford history, you can head over to the Beattie park mound Group Historic Site, situated at Rockford, IL 61103. 

Around the years of 700 until 1100, during the Late Woodland period, the mounds were built, including nine conical mounds, a linear mound, two effigy mounds, one in a bird shape, and one in a turtle shape. 

Today, only some of the mounds remain – the three conical mounds, a linear mound, the turtle effigy, and the conical mounds. 

 

The CherryVale Mall

The first mall developed in Rockford was the Cherryvale Mall, situated at 7200 Harrison Ave, Rockford, IL 61112. It is also one of the largest shopping malls in northern Illinois outside suburban Chicago.

This is a two-story mall which is fully enclosed and holds a variety of retailer and dining options. Examples of shops one can find in the CherryVale Mall is, Bergners, Macz, JCPenney, Victoria Secret, etc. 

There is also a children’s play area located on the lower level and an electric car charging station in the South West parking lot. 

 

Labyrinth at Womanspace

If you are looking for a meditation path, then the labyrinth at Womanspace, at 3333 Maria Linden Dr, Rockford, IL 61114, is the place to visit. 

The labyrinth area and the gardens are free and open to the public during the day where one can enjoy nature. It consists of an eleven-circuit design, which is modeled after the 

Chartres Cathedral labyrinth in France. 

The lush Lily Fernandez memorial Meditation Garden can also be found here and the Celebration Garden, where one can find a fountain and shaded seating. 

 

Anna Page Park

For a disc golf game, Anna Page Park at 36XX Meridian Ct, Rockford, IL 61101, is the place to go! The courses found here are the finest in the country with scenic views, concrete tee-pads, and some open fairways and woods. 

The Anna Page Park Disc Golf courses are fun and challenging. Instead of clubs, one will play 18-holes with a disc.
