Your Roofer from Roscoe, Just Down the Road
South Beloit homeowners are served by our Roscoe office at 11704 Main St, a short drive down the road. South Beloit is just eight minutes away from the Martin Exteriors headquarters. We’ve been putting roofs and siding on Stateline homes since 2006, and because so many South Beloit families live, work and shop on both sides of the line, it helps that we’re licensed in Illinois (roofing license 104.017824) and in Wisconsin (#1436189).
We’re a GAF Master Elite and President’s Club contractor, a Certified James Hardie installer, and we have been voted What Rocks Rockford Best Roofer, 6 years running (2020 to 2025). Call (815) 624-6278 for a free roof inspection.
Right across the line, we also work in Beloit, WI and the rest of southern Wisconsin, and close to home in Roscoe, Rockton and Rockford. You can see every town we serve on our service area page.
South Beloit Homes and Roofs
South Beloit grew fast in the 2000s. The Census counted 5,397 people in 2000 and 7,892 in 2010, and a lot of new houses went up to make room for them. A roof put on in those years is now 15 to 25 years old, which is right about when builder-grade shingles start to curl, lose granules and leak around the vents. If your home dates from that stretch and still has its first roof, it’s worth a free inspection before the next big storm finds the weak spots. For the full local guide, see our page on roof replacement in South Beloit.
The older part of town is a different story. Some of those houses have stood since before South Beloit became a city in 1917, and they’ve had more than one roof. We check the decking on every tear-off and replace bad wood at the price written in your quote.
Reroofing in South Beloit needs a building permit. Martin Exteriors pulls and handles all required permits and takes care of the inspection for you.

Had shingles blown off by high winds, called Martin Exteriors and talked to Nick, he came out and assessed the damage and within the week quotes were done and roof repaired. Excellent work, great communication and very friendly. Would highly recommend to others. Thank you.
Dustin is the best! I had roofing and siding done and the crews did an amazing job! I rarely ever give anyone 5 stars but the team deserves it!

Hail, Wind and Insurance Claims
Storms that roll across northern Illinois hit South Beloit and Beloit at the same time, and after a big one, out-of-town crews tend to show up knocking on doors. Here’s how it works when you call a local company instead:
- We inspect the roof and siding for free and photograph the damage.
- If the damage looks like a claim, you file it with your insurance company.
- We can meet your adjuster at the house and go over the insurer’s estimate with you line by line.
- Once the claim is approved, we schedule the work. You pay your deductible.
We’re a roofing contractor, not a public adjuster, and we won’t promise what your insurance will cover. More on hail damage repair, wind damage repair and insurance claims. See our guide to hail damage roof repair in South Beloit.
GAF Roof Warranties
As a GAF Master Elite contractor, we can offer a 50-year GAF warranty with 30 years on workmanship on qualifying roofs (GAF eligibility rules apply).
The standard GAF shingle warranty covers manufacturing defects. The 50-year GAF warranty also covers installation mistakes for 30 years non-prorated on a single-family home, and GAF inspects the finished roof. Only Master Elite contractors can offer it.
GAF eligibility requirements, coverage, terms and restrictions apply. Financing is available, with payments as low as $149/month for qualified buyers. See financing options.

About South Beloit, Illinois
South Beloit sits on the Illinois side of the state line in Winnebago County, a suburban extension of Beloit, Wisconsin. The Rock River runs through town, and the limestone along its banks and along Turtle Creek gave early settlers the buff stone for their houses. Some of the older homes in town still sit on limestone basement walls 18 to 20 inches thick.
The community petitioned to become a city in 1914 and was incorporated on September 17, 1917. South Beloit is now a thriving community, managing to sustain its small city charm. The 2020 Census counted 7,989 residents. South Beloit has its own schools, Prairie Hill Elementary, Willowbrook Middle and South Beloit High School, and the average class size is fifteen to one. Most of the city is in South Beloit Community Unit School District 320, with parts in the Prairie Hill and Rockton school districts. Drivers coming in on I-39 are greeted by the city’s welcome sign.
Storms, Siding and Warranties in South Beloit
Storm Claims and Emergency Tarping
If hail, high winds or a tornado tear up your roof, don’t climb up there yourself. Emergency tarping can be done within 24 hours. Since 2006 we’ve helped thousands of Rockford-area homeowners through roof claims. We help with your insurance claim: we photograph the damage, can meet your adjuster at the house and go over the insurer’s estimate with you. See insurance claims and emergency roof repair.
Older Siding, Asbestos Included
On older South Beloit houses, the original siding is sometimes cement asbestos shingles. Our own crews are licensed for asbestos siding removal, so the old siding comes off the right way before the new vinyl or James Hardie siding goes on. Most siding jobs take 1-2 days. See our siding services.
Two Warranties on Every Roof
Every roof we install comes with our workmanship warranty, plus the GAF warranty you choose for it. We go over the terms in writing before you sign. GAF eligibility requirements, coverage, terms and restrictions apply.
Thinking about metal instead of shingles? We install metal roofing as well as asphalt shingle roofs, and we handle commercial roofing too. When we replace your roof or siding, we can put on new seamless gutters as part of the same project. See gutters with your new roof.
Before You Hire a Roofer in South Beloit
Ask any roofer for proof of license and insurance, a written scope with the decking price spelled out, and who your contact will be during the job. We hand all of that over at the first visit.
Martin Exteriors Roofing & Siding, our family serving your family since 2006, is a licensed Illinois roofing contractor (license 104.017824), a GAF Master Elite contractor (a status GAF gives to fewer than 2% of roofers) and a four-time Inc. 5000 company (2021 to 2024). We were voted What Rocks Rockford Best Roofer, 6 years running (2020 to 2025), and What Rocks Rockford Best Siding, 2021 to 2025. Martin Exteriors is the best choice for your South Beloit roof, and someone answers 24/7 at (815) 624-6278.
South Beloit Roofing FAQ
Which Martin Exteriors office serves South Beloit?
Our Roscoe office at 11704 Main St, Roscoe, IL 61073. Call (815) 624-6278 to set up a free inspection.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in South Beloit?
Yes. A reroof needs a building permit. Martin Exteriors pulls and handles all required permits and schedules the inspection.
Do you work on both sides of the state line?
Yes. We hold Illinois roofing license 104.017824 and Wisconsin license #1436189, so we work in South Beloit and in Beloit, WI.
How can I tell if hail damaged my roof?
Look at the soft metal first: dents in gutters, downspouts, roof vents or the mailbox. Piles of shingle granules at the bottom of the downspouts are another sign. Shingle damage is hard to see from the ground, so let us check it up close. It’s free.
Should I repair my roof or replace it?
If the roof is fairly young and the damage is in one spot, repair it. If it’s old, leaks in more than one place, or keeps needing patches, a replacement usually costs you less in the long run. We’ll tell you which one we’d do if it were our house.
Do you help with insurance claims?
Yes. We document storm damage with photos, can meet your adjuster, and review the insurer’s estimate with you. We help with your insurance claim, and you pay your deductible.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, with payments as low as $149/month for qualified buyers.
How fast can you tarp a roof after a storm in South Beloit?
Emergency tarping can be done within 24 hours. Call (815) 624-6278. Someone answers 24/7.
Can you remove old asbestos siding?
Yes. Our own crews are licensed for asbestos siding removal, so we take the old siding off and haul it away before the new vinyl or James Hardie siding goes on.
Do you install metal roofs in South Beloit?
Yes, on homes and on commercial buildings. If you’re weighing metal against shingles, bring it up at the free inspection and we’ll lay out the differences for your roof. See metal roofing.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
Every roof we install comes with our workmanship warranty, plus the GAF warranty you choose. As a GAF Master Elite contractor, we can offer a 50-year GAF warranty with 30 years on workmanship on qualifying roofs (GAF eligibility rules apply). GAF eligibility requirements, coverage, terms and restrictions apply.
How long does a new roof take in South Beloit?
Most roofs are done in a day. Very large or steep roofs, or roofs with several old layers to tear off, can take longer, and weather can move the start date. Most siding jobs take 1-2 days.
Are you a GAF Master Elite contractor?
Yes. GAF gives Master Elite status to fewer than 2% of roofing contractors, and only Master Elite contractors can offer a 50-year GAF warranty with 30 years on workmanship (GAF eligibility rules apply). You can look us up in GAF’s contractor directory.
