What We Fix Most on Delavan Roofs

Delavan Homes and Roof Age
Census estimates put the median home in the City of Delavan at 1968, and about 24% of the city’s homes were built before 1940. Around the lake it’s different: in the Delavan Lake area the median home dates to 1980, about 9 in 10 lived-in homes are owner-occupied, and the Census counts fewer than half of the area’s homes as occupied, a sign of how many lake places are seasonal or second homes. On the older houses in town we often find extra shingle layers and worn flashing, which we check for during the free inspection.
Storms in Delavan
NOAA’s Storm Events Database lists plenty of Delavan storms. On June 22, 2024, an EF-1 tornado began on the north end of Delavan Lake, and in a subdivision northwest of Williams Bay several houses lost part or most of their roofs. On July 11, 2011, thunderstorm gusts estimated at 80 mph brought down trees and power lines in and around Delavan and damaged roofs and gutters at Lake Lawn Resort on Delavan Lake. An EF-0 tornado touched down in Delavan on August 20, 2018, hail up to 1.5 inches fell in the Delavan area on September 7, 2021, and on April 17, 2026 an EF-1 tornado along Turtle Creek destroyed a barn shed.
