Siding Contractor in South Beloit, IL

South Beloit is about eight minutes from our main office at 11704 Main St in Roscoe. Martin Exteriors Roofing & Siding has been family-owned since 2006, we’re a four-time Inc. 5000 company, and What Rocks voters named us Rockford’s best siding contractor five years running (2021 to 2025). We’re licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin, which helps in a town where so many people live on one side of the line and work on the other. Call (815) 624-6278.

A Town That Grew Fast

South Beloit grew quickly in the 2000s. The Census counted 5,397 people in 2000 and 7,892 in 2010, and a lot of new homes went up to make room. Most of them got the same thing on the walls: builder-grade vinyl in a few light colors.

That siding is now 15 to 25 years old. On a lot of those houses it’s faded unevenly, with the south and west walls a shade lighter than the rest, and some panels have cracked or come loose at the bottom. In a subdivision where many houses went up with the same product, it’s easy to see which homes have been redone and which haven’t.

Matching Faded Siding After a Storm

Here’s the problem that comes up most in South Beloit. A storm cracks a few panels on one wall, and the color was discontinued years ago, or the new panels are a lot brighter than the faded ones next to them. A patch can end up looking worse than the damage.

We’ll tell you straight whether a repair will blend in. Sometimes the honest answer is a full wall or the whole house, and sometimes it’s a few panels. If the damage looks like a claim, we’ll photograph it and help with your insurance claim. We’ve helped thousands of Rockford-area homeowners through roof claims.

Older Houses on the River Side of Town

Not all of South Beloit is new. Some homes in the older part of town have stood since before South Beloit became a city in 1917, and those houses tend to have history on their walls: wood lap siding under aluminum or vinyl, uneven framing, and the occasional asbestos cement shingle. We’re licensed for asbestos siding removal and use our own crews, so it doesn’t hold up your project.

Older houses take more prep and more careful trim work, and that’s where James Hardie fiber cement often makes sense. It has the look of painted wood, it’s heavier than vinyl, and it stands up better to hail and impact.

Watch Out for Door Knockers

Storms that roll across the Stateline hit South Beloit and Beloit at the same time, and after a big one, out-of-town crews tend to show up knocking on doors. If someone you’ve never heard of offers to handle your siding claim, ask where their office is and who answers the phone after they leave. Ours is on Main Street in Roscoe, a few minutes away, and the phone is answered 24/7. More on hail damage repair.

Vinyl or James Hardie

Vinyl siding from Mastic and Norandex is the budget-friendly choice and suits South Beloit’s newer homes well. Today’s panels are thicker than builder grade and come in far more colors, and installed right, vinyl often lasts 20 to 40 years.

James Hardie costs more up front and is backed by James Hardie’s own product warranty. Plenty of homeowners use it on the front of the house and vinyl on the sides. Most siding jobs take 1 to 2 days either way.

Permits and Nearby Pages

Martin Exteriors pulls and handles all required permits. If the roof went on with the original siding, see our South Beloit roofing page. Across the river, our Beloit siding page covers Wisconsin, and the siding installation page explains how a job runs.

South Beloit Siding FAQ

Can you match my faded siding after a storm?

Sometimes. If your color is still made and the rest of the house hasn’t faded too much, a repair can blend in. If not, we’ll tell you honestly and explain your options, including what to ask your insurance company.

My South Beloit house was built in the 2000s. Is the siding due?

It may be. Builder-grade vinyl from that time is often faded, brittle or loose by now. We’ll look at it for free and tell you whether it needs repairs or replacing.

Who issues siding permits in South Beloit?

Martin Exteriors does. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection, so you have nothing to file.

Do you work on both sides of the state line?

Yes. We’re licensed in Illinois and in Wisconsin (#1436189), and we side homes in South Beloit and Beloit.

How long will a South Beloit siding job take?

Most siding jobs take 1 to 2 days, and the 2000s subdivision homes are often on the short end. Older homes with several layers can take longer.

Do you remove asbestos siding?

Yes. We’re licensed for asbestos siding removal and do it with our own crews.
