GAF Timberline HDZ Charcoal Roof in Lake Geneva
Part two of the same Lake Geneva lakefront remodel. Milder mid December weather let us put on the GAF Timberline HDZ roof while the Hardie siding work continued in the overall plan. The shingle color is Charcoal for an all black roof look, with black drip edge so the edge metal matches the shingles. This video is the roof install day on that lake home, with a peek at how the finished exterior will read from the water side.

Roof Day Details
- Order of work: the plan was to work from the bottom of the house up, but a stretch of good weather in mid December let us put the roof on before the siding.
- Who ran the remodel: the owner was acting as his own general contractor on the whole house, inside and out, and hired Martin Exteriors Roofing & Siding for the James Hardie siding and the GAF roof after comparing contractors.
- Colors: the family picked them together, a white front with an all black roof. We carried the black down into the drip edge and the gutter apron, so the roof edge reads as one dark line against the light siding.
- Timing: the roof was on track to be finished the same afternoon it was filmed.
