We replace roofs in Roscoe from our own office at 11704 Main St, a few minutes from most of the subdivisions in the village. Martin Exteriors Roofing & Siding has been family-owned since 2006 and is a GAF Master Elite contractor, a status GAF gives to fewer than 2% of roofers. We’re also a four-time Inc. 5000 company. Call (815) 624-6278. Someone answers 24/7.

Why So Many Roscoe Roofs Are Due Now
Most of Roscoe was built in a hurry. Census estimates put the median home at 2001, and about 80% of the homes in the village went up between 1980 and 2009. The builders in those years used standard asphalt shingles, and the National Association of Home Builders puts an asphalt roof’s life at about 20 years. Do the math and a lot of Roscoe roofs are at or past the end of their first life right now.
Signs that yours is one of them: shingles curling at the edges or tabs lifting, granules piling up at the bottom of the downspouts, bare spots on the south and west slopes, and stains on a ceiling near an outside wall after a hard rain or a thaw. If you see two or three of those, a free inspection will tell you whether you’re looking at a repair or a replacement.
Replacement After the April 2026 Tornado
NOAA’s Storm Events Database says an EF-1 tornado on April 17, 2026 entered the west side of Roscoe and was strongest in the Hawks Point, Crystal Hills and Oxford Commons subdivisions, where several homes had parts of their roofs torn off. A lot of the roofs around that path that look fine from the street took wind damage anyway: creased shingles, broken seals and lifted tabs that will leak in the next storm.
If your home was near the path and nobody has been on the roof, call us. If water is coming in, emergency tarping can be done within 24 hours. We help with your insurance claim: since 2006 we’ve helped thousands of Rockford-area homeowners through roof claims, we can meet your adjuster at the house, and if the damage doesn’t justify a claim, we’ll say so. How a Roscoe Roof Replacement Goes
Free inspection. We look at the roof and the attic, count the old layers, check the vents and flashing, and photograph all of it. You see what we saw.
A written price. Your estimate spells out the decking price and any extra layers, so tear-off day doesn’t bring surprises.
The permit. A Roscoe reroof needs a permit, and the application asks for the roofer’s Illinois roofing license number. Ours is 104.017824. Martin Exteriors pulls and handles all required permits and books the inspection.
Tear-off and install. Tarps go over the landscaping, every old layer comes off, and soft decking gets replaced. Then ice and water barrier at the eaves and valleys, underlayment, drip edge, flashing, vents and shingles, all to the manufacturer’s instructions. Most roofs are done in a day.
Cleanup and walk-through. We haul off the debris, run a magnet over the yard for nails, and walk the finished roof with you.
The Two Details That Matter Most Here
On a Stateline roof, ventilation and the ice barrier at the eaves decide a lot about how long the new roof lasts. Builder-grade attics often have only the minimum venting, and a short-vented attic cooks shingles in summer and feeds ice dams in winter. We check the intake and exhaust on every job and fix what’s short. See attic ventilation.
On the big two-stories in Roscoe’s newer subdivisions, the open slopes that face west take the brunt of the wind, so we pay extra attention to nailing and the starter course along the edges, which is where wind gets its first grip.
Your Warranty
Every roof we install comes with our workmanship warranty, plus the GAF warranty you choose. As a GAF Master Elite contractor, we can register GAF’s enhanced system warranties that most roofers can’t offer, and we’ll walk you through which ones your roof qualifies for at the estimate.
Shingles, Metal and Siding
Most Roscoe homeowners go with architectural asphalt shingles. If you plan to stay a long time, metal roofing is worth a look. If your siding went up with your original roof, we can do both together. See our Roscoe siding page.
Paying for a New Roof
Financing is available, with payments as low as $149/month for qualified buyers. See financing options. If you want to know what moves the price of a roof up or down, our roof replacement cost guide breaks it down, and our roof replacement page covers how we build every roof.

Roscoe Roof Replacement FAQ
How long does a roof replacement take in Roscoe?
Most roofs are done in a day. Very large or steep roofs, or roofs with several old layers, can take longer, and weather can move the start date.
Can you put new shingles over my old roof instead of tearing it off?
We tear off. Every old layer comes off so we can see the deck, replace soft boards and install ice and water barrier and underlayment on clean wood.
What happens if you find bad decking on tear-off day?
We replace the soft or rotted boards before the new roof goes on, at the per-sheet price written in your estimate, and we show you photos of what we replaced.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
Our workmanship warranty, plus the GAF warranty you choose. As a GAF Master Elite contractor, we can register GAF’s enhanced warranties.
Will a new roof fix the ice dams on my Roscoe house?
It helps. We install ice and water barrier along the eaves and check the attic intake and exhaust venting on every replacement, because a short-vented attic is what feeds most ice dams. If the attic also needs insulation, we’ll tell you.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, with payments as low as $149/month for qualified buyers.
