Our office is on Main Street in Roscoe, so a Roscoe roof repair is about as local as it gets for us. Martin Exteriors Roofing & Siding has been fixing roofs here since 2006. Call (815) 624-6278, and someone answers 24/7. If you’d rather talk in person, stop by 11704 Main St.

Young Roofs, Specific Problems
Roscoe is newer than nearly every town around it. Census estimates put the median home at 2001, and about 70% of homes in the village were built between 1990 and 2009. Only about 3% were built before 1960. So most Roscoe repairs aren’t about worn-out old roofs. They’re about the first parts to fail on a builder-grade roof from the 1990s and 2000s, and many of them may still have their original shingles.
What fails first on those roofs:
- Pipe boots. The rubber collar around a plumbing vent dries out and splits, and water runs down the pipe into a bathroom ceiling.
- Nail pops. A nail that backs out lifts the shingle above it and leaves a hole for water.
- Ridge vents and box vents. Wind-driven rain can blow in through a vent that was never sealed well or has worked loose.
- Step flashing on two-story walls. Where a lower roof meets a second-story wall, loose step flashing or a missing kick-out sends water behind the wall.
- Valleys over garages. Big roofs drain a lot of water through a few valleys, and those valleys wear first.
Between storms, the early signs are easy to spot: a shingle that sits higher than the ones beside it, a dark streak running down from a vent, a water ring on a second-floor ceiling or around a bath fan, or ridge caps that look ragged from the street. Any one of those is worth a call before it turns into a wet ceiling.
After the April 2026 Tornado
Not every roof near the path of the April 17, 2026 EF-1 tornado needs replacing. NOAA’s Storm Events Database says it was strongest through the Hawks Point, Crystal Hills and Oxford Commons subdivisions, where homes lost parts of their roofs, and that houses east of the Rock River had roof and fascia damage as well. Plenty of homes nearby came through with a few creased shingles, lifted ridge caps or loosened flashing. Those are repairs, and they’re worth doing before the next storm finds them.
Roscoe gets plenty of ordinary storms too. NOAA lists gusts estimated near 70 mph with quarter-size hail on November 10, 2020, 1-inch hail just northeast of the village on April 4, 2023, and a branch that fell through a home just east of Roscoe on June 17, 2014. See wind damage repair and hail damage repair.
Repair or Replace in Roscoe
Because so many Roscoe roofs date from the 1990s and 2000s, this question comes up a lot. Our rule of thumb:
- Repair when the trouble is limited to a vent, a boot, a valley or a few shingles, and the rest of the roof still lies flat and holds its granules.
- Replace when shingles are curling or shedding granules across whole slopes, leaks keep moving to new spots, or storm damage covers most of the roof.
If you’re at the replacement point, our Roscoe roof replacement page walks through the whole process, and our main roof replacement page explains how we build every roof. Every new roof comes with our workmanship warranty plus the GAF warranty you choose. We’re a GAF Master Elite contractor, a status GAF gives to fewer than 2% of roofers.
What We Do on a Roscoe Repair Visit
We start with what you’ve noticed, then check the roof and the attic together, because a stain on the ceiling and the hole that caused it are often a few feet apart. Many homes in the village share similar roof designs, but we still trace every leak to its source before we price anything.
You get photos and a written repair price. Once you say go, we make the repair, check the shingles and flashing around it, and walk you through what we did. If the real problem is attic moisture from a bath fan or short venting, we’ll tell you that instead. See attic ventilation.
Emergency Leaks

Roscoe Roof Repair FAQ
What usually fails first on a newer Roscoe roof?
Pipe boots, nail pops, roof vents and the flashing where a lower roof meets a second-story wall. Those are repairs, not reasons for a new roof.
My home was near the April 2026 tornado path but looks fine. Should I get it checked?
Yes. Creased shingles, broken seal strips and loosened flashing often can’t be seen from the ground, and they tend to leak in the next storm. The inspection is free.
Can I bring photos of my leak to your office?
Yes. Stop by 11704 Main St or call (815) 624-6278. Photos help, but we’ll still check the roof and the attic before we price a repair.
Is a leaking ridge vent a roof repair?
Yes. Wind-driven rain can blow through a loose or poorly sealed ridge vent. We reseat or replace the vent and check the attic for wet insulation.
Can you tarp my Roscoe roof on a weekend?
Yes. Someone answers 24/7, and emergency tarping can be done within 24 hours.
